Every beach house has its own personality. The Big Sea's is easy and welcoming, the kind of place where you drop your bags, kick off your shoes and feel at home before the car is even unpacked.
Tucked into Magnolia Cottages by the Sea in Seacrest Beach, The Big Sea is a three-bedroom, three-bath cottage that sleeps eight. Come on in, and we'll show you around.
The screened porch: where the days begin and end
We'll start with everyone's favorite spot. The screened porch is fully furnished, with seating for eight, a ceiling fan overhead and full-length roller shades you can lower when the afternoon sun gets bright.
There's also a 55-inch smart TV out here, so game day, movie night or the evening news can all happen in the fresh air. Mornings are for coffee and quiet. Evenings are for long talks and one more story before bed.
The living room: room for everyone
Inside, the living room is built for gathering. A sectional seats six, with a coffee table, side tables and a soft area rug to sink your toes into after a day in the sand. There's a smart TV for movie nights, and four barstools pulled up to the kitchen island keep the conversation flowing while dinner comes together.
The kitchen: cook, gather, linger
The kitchen has everything you need to cook real meals on vacation. The refrigerator, electric range, oven and dishwasher are all newer, and there's a microwave, a coffee pot and a toaster for easy mornings.
You'll find cookware, bakeware and mixing bowls, plus dinnerware and silverware for twelve. There are wine glasses, mugs, and eight coffee tumblers for taking your morning cup down to the beach.
The dining table seats six, with four more spots at the island. There are place settings for eight with linen napkins, so even a simple shrimp boil feels like a celebration.
The king suite
The primary suite is a calm retreat with a king bed, an ensuite full bath with a shower and tub, and a walk-in closet. Like every bedroom in the house, it has a smart TV, a ceiling fan, crisp bed linens and extra blankets and pillows.
The queen suite
The guest suite mirrors the primary, with a queen bed, its own ensuite full bath with a shower and tub, and a walk-in closet. It's perfect for a second couple, grandparents or friends who want their own private space.
The bunk room: made for kids
For kids, the bunk room is the star of the house. It has four full beds, so there's plenty of space for kids, teens or even grown-ups on a friends' trip. It has its own smart TV and ceiling fan, and a full bathroom with a walk-in shower is right next door.
Traveling with a baby? A Pack 'n Play and a booster seat are ready for you, too.
The little things that make it easy
We've tried to think of the details so you don't have to:
Towels and toiletries: towels for every guest, a hairdryer, and starter soap, shampoo and conditioner.
Laundry room: off the kitchen, with a washer, dryer, iron, ironing board, hangers and detergent pods.
Outdoor shower: rinse off the sand before you head inside.
WiFi, plus two dedicated parking spots.
The beach gear: just grab and go
This is where The Big Sea really shines. There are six beach cruisers, each with a helmet, a lock and a removable basket, for rides to Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach.
For the beach, you'll find eight backpack beach chairs, two boogie boards, beach toys and sand nets. Grab a chair and the sand toys, and walk about four minutes to the private Gulf Lakes beach access. You'll have your feet in the water before you know it.
Beyond the front door
As a guest of Magnolia Cottages, you'll also have access to the community pool, just a short walk from the house. The Big Chill food hall is about a mile away, and Watersound Town Center, with a Publix, is about two miles down the road.
A few house basics: check-in is at 4 PM, checkout is at 10 AM, and the primary guest must be 25 or older. The Big Sea is non-smoking, and we're not able to host pets, parties or events.
